Love the journey
Wrekin Senior Education
Inspiring opportunities, outstanding pastoral care and progressive teaching that leads to academic excellence
From their very first day, we strive to know, include and teach each child to aspire.

Igniting curiosity
Wrekin Senior, for pupils aged 11 – 16, is the step between Wrekin Prep and Wrekin Sixth
At Wrekin Senior, the pupils build on the foundations laid at primary school as they develop their knowledge base, learn new skills and embrace new subjects.
Our goal at Wrekin Senior is to ignite curiosity, foster a lifelong love of learning in every child, and eventually prepare the pupils for GCSEs, their first set of external exams. Everything that is on offer at Wrekin Senior is designed to stretch and challenge our pupils and make them better people who are able to move confidently into, and within the global community.
Senior life
Wrekin Senior, a place to discover strengths, pursue passions and to excel above & beyond
Everything offered at Wrekin College is designed to stretch and challenge our pupils and make them better people, for life. Academic achievement is at the heart of all we do; we foster an ethos of encouraging our pupils to be the very best they can be, and their own personal bests are all they are ever measured against.
Lancaster
Especially designed to support our Year 7 and 8 pupils
The Wrekin Senior journey begins with our youngest pupils who join us into Lancaster House. Especially designed to support our Year 7 and 8 pupils, Lancaster House is a co-educational day House, and provides an extra layer of support during a formative time in a pupil’s education. Lancaster acts as a supportive stepping stone between Wrekin Prep and other primary schools, and a senior school education.

Senior Houses
Senior houses, an entry point for many, A new chapter for all
On entering Year 9 pupils leave Lancaster and join one of our senior Houses; we also welcome a new cohort of pupils joining us at 13+. Yr 9 is when our pupils move into the senior part of Wrekin Senior, and can enjoy many new experiences including CCF and bronze Duke of Edinburgh award as part of our Character Adventure Training programmes.

Academic Curriculum
An exceptional education, stimulating intellectual curiosity
At Wrekin, we’re committed to delivering an exceptional education that helps every pupil reach their full academic potential and develop a genuine love of learning.
Through expert teaching, personalised support, and a rich choice of subjects at GCSE, A level and BTEC, we guide pupils to discover their strengths and prepare for life beyond school. With dedicated staff, tailored tutoring, and expert careers advice, we make sure every pupil is supported, stretched, and ready for their future.

co-curricular
Beyond the Classroom at Wrekin
At Wrekin Senior, education extends far beyond textbooks. From academic enrichment, such as debating, music and creative arts, to outdoor adventures, competitive sports, and pupil-led societies, our vibrant co-curricular programme nurtures confidence, creativity and character, preparing pupils for life, not just exams.

Peter Grimsdale Memorial Concert with guest conductor Philip Stopford
Please join us for an evening of choral music, featuring all the choirs of Wrekin College and members of the Jackfield Band, to celebrate the life of Peter Grimsdale, a loyal Wrekin parent who sadly passed away at the beginning of the year. The evening will be conducted by the composer Philip Stopford and we are delighted to welcome him back to Wrekin after he officially opened our Music School in January 2020.
All profits from the concert will go to The Christie Hospital, Manchester where Peter was treated during his illness.
